Occasionally we hear of people who cannot smell Molecule 01. This could be due to one of the following factors:

a) The only ingredient in Molecule 01 is the aroma-molecule Iso E Super. This is one of a group of fragrance materials, such as musk, that some people are highly sensitive to, while others find them hard to detect. Most people, however, detect these ingredients within a normal range of sensitivity.

b) Geza Schoen, creator of Escentric Molecules, describes Iso E Super as "less an aroma than an effect which lends an indefinable radiance to the wearer". It's one of the mysterious qualities of Iso E Super that it seems to vanish and re-appear. This is because of the way it bonds with receptors in the olfactory system, only slowly releasing to make way for a fresh charge of the molecule on the receptors.

c) It’s possible that you may be experiencing anosmia or hyposmia. Anosmia is smell-blindness and can be brought on by factors such as a blocked nose during a cold, chronic sinusitis, or allergy (hay fever). You can also experience post viral anosmia that continues after the virus has left the body.

Hyposmia, which is partial smell-blindness, is somewhat more common. Some people are hyposmic for one particular smell, such as musk, or Iso E Super. Again, in most cases, this is temporary. Regular users may become hyposmic to Iso E Super. In these circumstances we recommend customers take a break from the fragrance for one month.

If you find Molecule 01 hard to detect, you may want to try Escentric 01. Escentric 01 contains 65% of Iso E Super blended with other ingredients chosen to pull out and enhance its scent profile. So you could say Escentric 01 is a hyper-portrait of Iso E Super, permitting you to experience its key characteristics, even if you have a low sensitivity to Iso E Super itself.

Occasionally we get an enquiry about Escentric or Molecule being a little different in colour. This is nothing to worry about. It’s simply due to the nature of the aroma-molecules, where one batch can have a slightly different colour-tone to another batch. The analogy we use is olive oil, which can vary in colour from season to season.

We can only guarantee the authenticity of products purchased directly from Escentric.com or one of our official stockists. Unfortunately, we cannot verify the authenticity of products purchased from unofficial stockists, including Amazon, eBay, AllBeauty.com and Notino. Our fragrances focus on an exceptional series of aroma-molecules, 01 (Iso E Super), 02 (AMBROXAN™), 03 (Vetiveryl Acetate), 04 (Javanol) and 05 (Cashmeran).

The fragrances foreground these molecules in two different ways.

The Escentric fragrances enhance the molecule with other ingredients that bring out its key qualities.

The Molecule fragrances takes a radically minimalist approach. Each Molecule fragrance contains no odorants except a single, pure aroma molecule: 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05.

All Escentric Molecules fragrances are EDT.

Fragrances consist of a concentrate of perfume, alcohol and water. The difference between them is the quantity of perfume in the concentrate. The percentages of the concentrations are 11% to 20% for an 'Eau de Parfum' and 6% to 10% for an 'Eau de Toilette'.

We cannot state that all of our products are vegan as there is no legal definition of vegan for cosmetic products and fragrances.

We can confirm our products are phthalate free.

We can confirm our products are bovine free.

Our fragrances have a shelf life of 36 months from production, and are best kept stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight. If exposed to sunlight for too long, the fragrance may change colour.

This is intentional as it is part of our design philosophy.

Most orders are sent in a complimentary Escentric Molecules gift box. Unfortunately we do not currently offer gift messaging on orders.

Gift cards can be purchased for £20, £50 or £100 and are delivered by email, containing instructions on how to redeem them on our website.
The gift card will be delivered to the email address entered at the time of purchase and can be forwarded to the recipient.

Orders can be shipped directly from Escentric Molecules to UK, Ireland, Germany, Italy, France and USA. We do not recommend using third-party onward forwarding delivery services, as due to individual countries' customs restrictions, there’s a risk that your order could be confiscated by customs. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee safe delivery or offer refunds in these cases.

Customers are able to select 2 complimentary samples when making any purchase. To add these to your order, select your shopping cart from the icon in the top right of the page, then choose 'Select samples', and pick two different samples from the available options.

From time to time if a sample you have chosen becomes unavailable, we may replace it with an alternative sample.

Unfortunately we are not able to send complimentary samples to customers without making a purchase, however we recommend taking a look at our Discovery sets which offer a selection of smaller sized fragrances.
